Auction Market Preview - 6 April 2025

Auction volumes ease across the combined capitals

There are currently 2,404 capital city homes scheduled for auction this week, down -16.3% on last week when 2,873 auctions were held, but 21.1% higher than the same week last year (1,985).

In Melbourne, 995 homes are scheduled for auction this week, down from 1,364 last week. This time last year, 812 auctions were held across the city.

There are 996 auctions scheduled in Sydney this week, compared to 1,110 last week and 849 this time last year.

Across the smaller capitals, auction volumes are relatively unchanged week-on-week. Brisbane is expected to be the busiest auction market with 179 homes set to go under the hammer, compared to 173 last week. There are 136 auctions scheduled in Adelaide, in line with last week, while Canberra is set to host 79 auctions this week, up from 73 last week. There are 16 auctions scheduled in Perth, compared to 14 last week, while there are three auctions scheduled in Tasmania this week, as there was last week.

Next week will see auction volumes rise again in the lead-up to Easter, with just over 2,850 capital city homes currently set to go under the hammer.
